A Partnership for the Future

IGNITING CURIOSITY IN HAMPTON ROADS

The Newport News Public Schools and Christopher Newport University STEM Community Day is a collaborative event designed to connect students, families, and the community with hands-on STEM learning and real-world career pathways. Hosted at the Freeman Center, this FREE experience brings together K–12 students, educators, university faculty, and industry partners for a day of exploration and discovery.

  • Free Admission for all families and community members

  • Interactive Exhibits including robotics demonstrations, hands-on technology, and live STEM experiences from NASA, Jefferson Lab, higher education, and regional industry partners

  • Student Showcases representing every Newport News Public School

  • STEM Career Experiences featuring local and regional employers, including shipbuilding, healthcare, defense, and military careers

  • CNU STEM Programs and Majors highlighting pathways from K–12 learning to higher education opportunities
